Comprehensive Phytochemical Analysis and Bioactivity Evaluation of Padina boergesenii: Unveiling Its Prospects as a Promising Cosmetic Component

Marine macroalgae, such as Padina boergesenii, are gaining recognition in the cosmetics industry valuable sources of natural bioactive compounds. This study aimed to investigate biochemical profile P. boergesenii and evaluate its potential a cosmetic ingredient. Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GCMS), high-resolution liquid quadrupole time-of-flight (HRLCMS QTOF) analyses were employed assess functional groups, phycocompounds, beneficial compounds present boergesenii. Pigment estimation, total phenol protein content determination, DPPH antioxidant analysis, tyrosinase inhibition assay conducted extracts’ ability counteract oxidative stress address hyperpigmentation concerns. Elemental composition amino acid quantification determined using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission (ICP-AES) HRLCMS, respectively. FTIR spectroscopy confirmed diverse including halo compounds, alcohols, esters, amines, acids. GCMS analysis identified moisturizing, conditioning, anti-aging long-chain fatty acids, hydrocarbon derivatives. HRLCMS QTOF revealed phenolic derivatives, peptides, terpenoids, acids with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, skin-nourishing properties. indicated varying concentrations elements, silicon (Si) being most abundant copper (Cu) least abundant. The was 86.50 µg/mL, suggesting presence antioxidants. 113.72 indicating nourishing rejuvenating effects. ethanolic extract exhibited an IC50 value 36.75 μg/mL assay, significant activity. methanolic showed 42.784 μg/mL. Furthermore, extracts demonstrated 62.14% comprehensive underscores effective ingredient for enhancing skin health.
